…not exactly from misery to happiness. It is with very mixed emotions that I inform my friends here in Scotland that my wife and I are returning to San Francisco. I’ve been offered a very fine job with Slide, in the siliconiest bit of the City, an offer I don’t think I can readily pass up. I’ll be pursuing several of my favourite things: Flash, games, and of course social networking.
When we first conceived the idea of moving to Edinburgh, I don’t think either of us could possibly have anticipated how much we would come to think of this place as home. We’ve made an incredible number of friends and come to feel (despite having no experience still with deep-fried pizza or ceilidhs) like locals. Thanks for everything you’ve done for us; thanks for making us feel welcome.
We’ll be hanging around until September, so please, if you see me at Edinburgh Coffee Morning, or down at Artisan Roast, or noshing at Manna House or Pani Solinska, come up and say hi, make sure we have mutual contact info, and feel free to contact me if ever you visit the great City By The Bay!

Note to any who still follow my ramblings here. Most of my blogging is now happening at http://www.wikiupgames.com since that’s the project I’m excited about. I’ll still post personal things here, but as you can see, there’s not been a lot of that lately.
Please follow me over at wikiupgames and share your thoughts!

Just posted a picture of a possible ‘spokesbeing’ (spokescreature?) for Wikiup. I’d appreciate feedback.
The Spokesbeing (as a business card)
Do you like the colors? The fonts? The whole concept? Got a name for our creature? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I’m posting technical sketches of the Wikiup Entity Editor here. I encourage comments.

I’m simply setting up this post as a thread for feedback on The Wikiup Project. Please feel free to constructively discuss any aspects of the project you find interesting, especially areas you feel could be improved.

Hi there! I’m finally starting up the blog again (after a lengthy hiatus). Of course I’ll carry on discussing life here in Scotland, but the focus will shift a bit towards discussion of The Wikiup Project. If you don’t know about it, click the link and find out!

I’ll keep it short today and let the picture speak the thousand words.
Headline One: Yesterday, inspired by our Saturday cycle in gorgeous, summery weather (and an ongoing oil crisis), I made my first journey to work by bicycle — a 20 mile roundtrip.
Headline Two: Yesterday the rain predicted all weekend finally appeared. Oh yes, and it was accompanied by hail.

The forecast was for rain (it usually is), but sun and heat have dominated the weekend, leading to bikes, hikes, picnics and climbing.
Yesterday was Emma’s birthday. We met Emma, masseuse and one-time Buddhist nun (whom I suspect, but cannot prove, fights crime by night with her Shaolin superpowers) while she and I were purchasing our rides at the Bike Station. We have since gone hiking in the Pentland Hills, but had yet to meet up for any actual cycling. That changed yesterday, as she invited us to join her friends for a birthday ride. (more…)

OK, Peter (Rabbit?) has asked for it often enough, so here it is: the Rabbit Update. (more…)

The writer’s strike being over, I guess I can get back to some serious blogging. Mind you, I don’t really understand striking writers. Who draws up the picket signs?
The last few weeks have kept us busy with mundane bits of just plain living, but there have been a few notable events worth a mention. (more…)
